UK blade repair firm acquired by Swire Renewable Energy

Swire Renewable Energy has made a purchase of a blade repair firm based in the UK.

Swire Renewable Energy, a company specializing in renewable energy inspection, repair, and maintenance, has recently acquired Altitec Blade Services, a specialist in wind turbine rotor blade repair and inspection. This strategic acquisition will greatly enhance Swire Renewable Energy’s capabilities in blade repair and maintenance, as well as expand its range of blade-related services.

With this acquisition, Swire Renewable Energy will now offer a comprehensive range of services including blade service and maintenance, predictive analysis, engineering, autonomous drone inspections, annual and periodic maintenance, bespoke blade repair training, and repair diagnostics. This will significantly increase the company’s capacity in the field of blade-related services.

Furthermore, the acquisition will also allow Swire Renewable Energy to expand its market share by leveraging Altitec’s established offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and South Africa. This move will enable the company to tap into the emerging high-growth renewable energy services markets in Africa and Australia, where it already has significant experience and established relationships.

In the coming months, the Altitec business and regional offices will be integrated into the Swire Renewable Energy group and will begin operating under the Swire Renewable Energy brand. This integration will allow for better coordination and optimization of marketing efforts, enabling Swire Renewable Energy to further grow and scale its onshore and offshore blade repair services on an international level.

The acquisition of Altitec Blade Services follows Swire Renewable Energy’s previous acquisition of Wind Power Solutions in Sweden in October 2023. The Swedish company specializes in wind turbine inspection, repair, and maintenance services in Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

“We are very focused on developing our newly acquired business units in Africa and Australia. These are emerging high-growth renewable energy services markets where we have significant group experience. We will be leveraging our long-standing relationships in Africa and Australia to ensure we develop a long-term competitive position,” said Ryan Smith, CEO of Swire Renewable Energy.

Tom Dyffort, Managing Director of Altitec Blade Services, expressed his enthusiasm for the integration with Swire Renewable Energy. He stated, “We are looking forward to integrating with Swire Renewable Energy and optimizing our marketing through the larger combined network, enabling us to grow and scale in both onshore and offshore blade repair services internationally.”

Overall, this acquisition positions Swire Renewable Energy as a key player in the renewable energy industry, with expanded capabilities and a broader international presence in the blade repair and maintenance sector.
