The World Sustainable Development Summit in 2024 will focus on fostering global sustainability.



The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), is an annual event that aims to promote sustainable development on a global scale. With a history spanning over two decades, the Summit serves as a platform for leaders and thinkers to come together and find long-term solutions for the benefit of communities worldwide.

This year, Dhruba Purkayastha, CPI’s India Director, will participate in the WSDS opening leadership panel on Financing Sustainable Development and Climate Action. The panel will also feature esteemed speakers such as H.E. Mr. Andreas Bjelland Eriksen, Minister of Climate and Environment, Norway, H.E. Ms. Teresa Ribera Rodríguez, Minister for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Spain, Mr. Martin Raiser, Vice President for South Asia Region, The World Bank, Dr. Amar Bhattacharya, Senior Fellow, Brookings Initiative on Climate Research and Action, Ms. Priya Shankar, India Director, Climate and Environment Program, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Ms. Pamela Jouven, Director, SME Climate Hub, We Mean Business Coalition, and Dr. Dhruba Purkayastha, India Director, Climate Policy Initiative.

The 2024 WSDS will span three days and revolve around the theme of Leadership for Sustainable Development and Climate Justice. The Summit will bring together representatives from various sectors, including international organizations, government, business and industries, research and academia, civil society, and youth. Together, they will discuss and champion initiatives related to sustainable development and climate justice. The Summit will cover topics such as integrating sustainable development, nature-based solutions, adaptation and resilience, sustainable consumption and lifestyles, addressing the energy trilemma, and climate action.
