Pivot Bio and Iowa State University Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Center for Sustainable Agriculture

Pivot Bio, a sustainable agriculture company, has opened its new 36,000-square-foot Customer Success Center in the Iowa State University Research Park. The facility demonstrates the company’s dedication to developing microbial nitrogen solutions that help farmers reduce their reliance on synthetic fertilizers.

The Customer Success Center, located in the heart of the Iowa State University Research Park, is a significant addition to Pivot Bio’s operations. The company aims to create innovative and sustainable solutions for agriculture, and this new center will serve as a hub for their microbial nitrogen products. It will also act as a space for education and collaboration among farmers, researchers, and industry experts.

The center was made possible through a $14 million investment from Pivot Bio, in partnership with the Iowa State University Research Park and Story Construction. This investment not only supports the commercialization of Pivot Bio’s products but also fosters collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders in the agricultural industry. The center is designed to address the challenges in crop nutrition and agricultural technology by providing a space for knowledge-sharing and innovation.

One notable feature of the facility is the inclusion of approximately 15,000 square feet of open high bay, which will support work on agronomy equipment. This space will be used for hands-on training and calibration for seed treatment equipment, specifically for Pivot Bio’s PROVEN® 40 on-seed product. This product allows corn farmers to plant their seeds with up to 25% of their nitrogen fertilizer needs already in place. The on-seed product has experienced significant success since its launch last year and now constitutes a major portion of the company’s sales.

Pivot Bio has a strong history of collaboration with Iowa State University, and this new center further strengthens their partnership. In 2022, the company collaborated with the university on an independent research study that demonstrated the benefits of Pivot Bio’s PROVEN® 40 microbial nitrogen in increasing biomass in corn plants. This study showcased how the product can contribute to healthier and more productive crops while reducing nitrous oxide emissions and synthetic nitrogen losses.

Chris Abbott, the CEO of Pivot Bio, expressed his excitement about the opening of the Customer Success Center. He emphasized that the center represents the company’s commitment to reshaping agriculture for the better by focusing on optimizing the use of crop inputs and developing groundbreaking fertilizer innovations. Abbott highlighted the importance of collaboration with customers, representatives, and strategic partners in achieving sustainability and productivity goals while prioritizing the success of farmers.

Pivot Bio is a leading sustainable agriculture company that delivers patented crop nutrition technologies to farmers. Their products harness the power of nature to grow food reliably and productively while minimizing the negative impacts of synthetic fertilizer. Pivot Bio’s nitrogen solutions are weatherproof, safer to handle, and do not contribute to nitrous oxide pollution. By disrupting the $190 billion nitrogen market, the company is making significant strides in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Pivot Bio has received recognition for its innovative solutions, including being featured on Time magazine’s annual list of best inventions and Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas and World’s Most Innovative Companies lists. The company’s recent growth and success demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of their sustainable agriculture solutions.
