Voltalia Reports Increase in Power Production and Expansion of Capacity

In 2023, Voltalia, a renewable energy company, experienced an 18% increase in power production, reaching 4,336GWh compared to 3,680GWh in 2022. The fourth quarter of 2023 saw an 11% year-on-year increase in power production, totaling 1,340GWh.

Geographically, Latin America accounted for 57% of Voltalia’s total capacity by the end of 2023, followed by Europe at 35%, and Africa at 8%.

Regarding installed capacity, Brazil led the way with 711MW of solar capacity and 773MW of wind capacity. France had the largest installed capacity in Europe, with 196MW of solar capacity and 93MW of wind capacity.

Solar capacity accounted for 66% of Voltalia’s total capacity, while wind capacity made up 30%. Hydro, biomass, and storage capacity represented 3%.

In addition to capacity expansion, Voltalia achieved a two-fold increase in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA), reaching €275 million (US$296.9 million) in 2023.

Energy sales also experienced growth, with a 23% increase to €299.3 million from €242.4 million in 2022. In the fourth quarter of 2023, energy sales reached €82.9 million, up from €71.6 million in the same period of 2022.

Voltalia’s turnover for 2023 amounted to €495.2 million, representing a 6% growth from €466.1 million in 2022. In the fourth quarter, the company’s turnover reached €170 million, a 20% increase from €142 million in Q4 2022.

While turnover from services for third-party clients decreased by 12% year-on-year to €195.9 million in 2023, turnover in this segment experienced a 24% increase in the fourth quarter, reaching €87.1 million.

Voltalia remains committed to its business divisions’ targets, aiming to achieve an operating and construction capacity of more than 5GW by 2027. Additionally, the company plans to operate over 8GW on behalf of third parties.
