Collaboration between Invaio Sciences and Louis Dreyfus to Combat Citrus Greening in a Sustainable Manner

Invaio Sciences (Invaio) and Louis Dreyfus Company have announced a three-year collaboration aimed at addressing one of the major challenges facing the citrus sector in Brazil – making citrus farms more sustainable.

Citrus greening disease, also known as Huanglongbing (HLB), is a disease that affects citrus farms in Brazil, the US, Mexico, and China. It is spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, and in Brazil, the psyllid is becoming increasingly resistant to crop protection products that are commonly used to prevent its spread. This has led to significant crop losses, and new solutions are urgently needed.

The collaboration between Invaio and Louis Dreyfus Company aims to mitigate citrus greening disease while improving crop quality, yield, and longevity on LDC-managed farms in Brazil. Invaio will contribute its proprietary technology, Trecise, which has been developed to improve citrus health and reduce the use of chemicals by up to 90%. LDC will provide its expertise in citrus farming to optimize the management of water, inputs, fuel, and other resources, as well as enable greater grove treatment traceability. The ultimate goal is to enhance the sustainability of citrus crop cultivation practices.

Invaio recently launched its Trecise application technology in Florida, US, where it has proven to be successful in improving citrus health and reducing environmental and worker exposure. The company is excited to bring this innovative technology to Brazil and work alongside LDC to promote more sustainable farming practices and increase crop health and productivity.

Both companies are committed to driving the future of sustainable citrus production in Brazil and contributing to the long-term resilience of the citrus industry. They believe that by embracing innovative technologies and sustainable farming practices, Brazil can maintain its position as a global leader in agricultural production while ensuring economic, social, and environmental sustainability.

This collaboration between Invaio and Louis Dreyfus Company represents a significant step towards finding solutions to the challenges facing the citrus sector in Brazil. By combining their expertise and resources, they hope to make a positive impact on the sustainability of citrus farming and mitigate the effects of citrus greening disease.
