Climate events are being organized by local climate advocates in Northern New Mexico, as reported by the Los Alamos Reporter.

The Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) New Mexico State Chapter is hosting a series of public events in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos. These events are open to the public and aim to provide New Mexicans with the opportunity to learn more about CCL, meet local and regional leaders, and establish connections to support their growth as climate advocates. For any questions or comments about these events, please contact Sara at mason.saraann@gmail.com.

In Albuquerque, there will be a social hour at Marble Brewery Downtown on Monday, January 29, from 5:00-7:00 PM. On Tuesday, January 30, there will be a CCL table at the University of New Mexico Student Union from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM.

In Santa Fe, Bill Barron, the CCL Mountain West Regional Coordinator, will present “Introduction to Climate Advocacy with Citizens’ Climate Lobby” at the Santa Fe Public Library Southside Branch on Wednesday, January 31, from 6:00-7:15 PM.

In Los Alamos, the CCL New Mexico State Chapter and the Los Alamos High School Eco Club will host a beginning climate advocacy workshop for teens at the Los Alamos Teen Center on Thursday, February 1, from 3:15-4:15 PM. Additionally, there will be a social hour on Friday, February 2, from 12:00-1:00 PM, where Los Alamosans can meet each other and write messages to their members of Congress. The location for this event is still being decided, so stay updated by checking the CCL New Mexico Facebook Page or contacting Sara at mason.saraann@gmail.com. Later that day, Bill Barron will present “Introduction to Climate Advocacy with Citizens’ Climate Lobby” at the Los Alamos Unitarian Church from 6:00-7:00 PM.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a national nonprofit organization with local chapters across the country. They have been instrumental in advocating for the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act and other federal policies to combat the climate crisis.
